The "VIENNA CLASSICAL PLAYERS“

were founded in 1995 by Martin Kerschbaum. The artists of the orchestra are mainly members of the Vienna Symphony but also of other important Viennese symphonic orchestras.
First performances took the VIENNA CLASSICAL PLAYERS a.o. to the famous “Athens Festival” in Greece and the “Ivo Pogorelich Festival” in Germany.

In the concert season 2003/2004 the VIENNA CLASSICAL PLAYERS had their first performance within the chamber music cycle of the Vienna Symphony in the Brahms Saal of the Wiener Musikverein.

In February 2005 they gave a concert performance of Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
The Mozart Year 2006 was celebrated with several projects in Europe and a Japan debut of the orchestra.

In 2006 a CD recording of Mozart’s violin concerti with Rainer Honeck, concert master of the Vienna Philharmonic as soloist, was issued by Orfeo international.
In the same year a recording of Karl Komzák’s Badner Mad’ln from a CD with rare pieces of the Strauß era (Reutterer Music) was chosen as one of the 40 best classical interpretations worldwide by the Nokia music platform.

For 2007 – apart from concerts in Austria - tours to San Marino, Malta, Italy, and Turkey are planned.

The VIENNA CLASSICAL PLAYERS focus mainly on maintaining the tradition of the Vienna classical school. However, due to their flexible possibilities, they are able to dedicate themselves to a wider repertoire which includes romantic and contemporary music.
